Iran’s biggest secret: the skiing’s great
Dom Joly – guardian: It all started with a photograph in a magazine I picked up in a Parisian dentist’s waiting room (it’s a long story, but if you really must know I chipped my tooth on a weirdly bony sausage). Anyway, I was flicking through the pages when I saw this great photo. It was of two women in full burkhas, the all-encompassing black robes favored by women in strict Islamic countries. So far, so ethnic, but these women, so representative of everything that is alien and strange to us about Islam, were skiing. It was a striking image and I had to know more.

International Alpine ski Competition in Shemshak, Iran
The third international Alpine ski competition in big and spiral Shemshak Ski Resort was held in January 2013 and Pooria Saveh Shemshaki va Ziba Kalhor were the winners. Pooria was the representative of Azerbaijan Copper (Mese Azerbaijan) club and Ziba was Boss Café representative (Kafe rees) in these competitions.

The protagonist Nordic ski championship in Ab Ali Ski Resort in Tehran
The first stage of protagonist Nordic Ski championship was held in the Ab Ali ski resort (Nour Club) in 10 kilometers.
The first competition finished in Figure series and the winners in 3 age levels were selected.
The winners are the followings: The age of 35 – 45 years: 1- Mahde Daliran 2- Ali Hosseini 3- Mahmoud Mahd Saleh
The age 46- 55 years: 1- Mojtaba Mir Hashemi 2- Taghi Shemshaki 3- Ahmad Bakhshi
The age 55 years to up: 1- Kazem Kavian 2- Majid Saveh Shemshaki 3- Abdollah Mahmoudi Kazem Kavian, the head of Iran ski protagonist committee said “the best protagonist skiers in two stages of competition will be embarked to protagonist World Club in Italy”.

No limitation for female Iranian skiers
There are very good ski resorts in Iran which are active throughout the year for both snow and grass skis. The Iran ski resorts are host for both Iranian and foreign ski fans, no matter they are female or male.
It was heard some days ago that the females cannot attend in Iran ski pistes alone which was rejected by the Iran Ski Federation Head. Mr. Eisa Save Shemshaki, Iran Ski Federation Head, announced that the women can ski the same as before with suitable clothes and there is no limitation about attending alone in ski resorts without their legal protector.
The female skiers also attend in different ski competitions in Iran and international competitions as well. Among Iran female skiers are Fatemeh Kia Darbandsari, Marjan Kalhor, Mitra Kalhor, Hananeh Karim khani, Samin Davari, and Samira Zargari who attended in Austria, Lebanon and Shemshak ski Competition so far.
This does not even limit to Tehran ski resorts but for all Iran ski resorts such as Hamadan. Hamadan ski piste has good ski facilities and 7 female coaches work with it currently. Hamadan ski resort has the capacity of 100,000 skiers at the same time and is ready for arranging the national competitions, ski coaching and finding the ski talents in snow seasons. The Hamadan ski officials have focused their attention on teenagers to become the future ski talents in Iran.
